Queens from the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme strongly kicked Shutterstock professional photographer Chelsea Lauren within the mind at the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas show in Inglewood, California, on Saturday night. When the news that the lady was assaulted at rock show surprises you, it, regrettably, shouldn&rsquot.

Within the initial hrs following a assault, Homme released an announcement detailing he was clueless that he’d kicked Lauren&mdashwho sustained injuries serious enough to land her within the ER&mdashin the face area. But Lauren&rsquos take from the evening was different. She told Variety that before Homme struck her, he looked her straight hard.

&ldquoI saw him arriving and that i was shooting away&hellip The following factor I understand his feet connects with my camera and my camera connects with my face, very hard,&rdquo she stated. &ldquoHe looked straight at me, thrown his leg back pretty hard and full-blown kicked me hard. He ongoing performing, I had been startled, I type of stopped searching at him, I simply got lower and it was holding my face since it hurt badly.&rdquo

Following Lauren&rsquos statement, Homme issued another apology on Instagram and required responsibility for his actions.

&ldquoI&rsquod much like to apologize to Chelsea Lauren,&rdquo he stated. &ldquoI don&rsquot have excuse or need to justify things i did. I had been a complete dick.&rdquo

Like a concert professional photographer myself, I discovered this news of Homme&rsquos assault terrifying and disturbing, although not really everything shocking. A lot of women who attend hard rock or punk concerts regularly can attest that assault and undesirable touching run rampant.

Even female concert photographers cope with these problems. While fretting about the digital camera getting smashed inside a spontaneous mosh pit or doused in beer tossed toward happens, women also need to worry that men within the audience might make the most of them when they&rsquore concentrating on their job. Now we are able to add &#8220getting kicked hard through the lead singer&#8221 to some never-ending listing of things to bother with.&nbsp

I additionally wasn&rsquot shocked to determine trolls or Queens from the Stone Age fans find excuses for Homme, including placing the culprit on Lauren or refusing to think her story.

Thankfully, situations are altering within the music scene. Some live music communities have accepted campaigns like Women towards the Front&mdashfounded through the Riot Grrrl movement within the &lsquo90s&mdashor more lately, Girls Against, which aims to finish sexual assault at concerts. For each misogynist comment tossed at Lauren on Twitter, there appeared to become a minimum of five fans who supported Lauren.&nbsp

Thank you everyone that has reached out with supportive messages. A small update, as I'm being flooded with questions: My neck is a sore, my eyebrow bruised and I'm a bit nauseous. The doctor released me early in the morning. Here are three images. Two of them as Josh looked at me, smiled and then kicked me. The other one is later after he cut his own face with a knife. I was in the pit in tears – and he just stared at me smiling. Assault in any form is not okay, no matter what the reasoning. Alcohol and drugs are no excuse. I was where I was allowed to be, I was not breaking any rules. I was simply trying to do my job. I hold nobody accountable for this but Josh himself. KROQ has nothing to do with this and I will always support them. The irony is someone had thrown an ice cube on to the very slick catwalk before the QOTSA set. I was afraid that one of the band members might slip and hurt themselves so, when the lights went dark, I used my arm to wipe down the runway so nobody would hurt themselves. Thank you to @variety for their immediate concern and care with this matter. As of now, nobody from QOTSA has reached out to me. #queensofthestoneage #QOTSA #JoshHomme

But things are only able to improve when we still on-site visit the assholes within the pit who think their live music encounters tend to be more important compared to safety from the women at shows&mdashand which includes musicians like Homme that do it in the stage.&nbsp
